Effluents and residues from industrial sites for carbon dioxide capture: a review

نویسندگان

چکیده

Abstract The adverse effects of climate change calls for the rapid transformation manufacturing processes to decrease emissions carbon dioxide. In particular, a lower footprint can be achieved by capturing dioxide at site emission. Here we review use industrial effluents, waste and residues capture Waste include steelmaking slag, municipal solid incinerator ashes, combustion fly ash, black liquor, paper mill waste, mining cement construction demolition from organic industry, flue gas desulfurization gypsum waste. Capture capacities range 2 800 kg per ton depending on processes, type conditions. Cement show highest capacity

Early atmospheric detection of carbon dioxide from carbon capture and storage sites

UNLABELLED The early atmospheric detection of carbon dioxide (CO2) leaks from carbon capture and storage (CCS) sites is important both to inform remediation efforts and to build and maintain public support for CCS in mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. A gas analysis system was developed to assess the origin of plumes of air enriched in CO2, as to whether CO2 is from a CCS site or from the oxi...

Progress in carbon dioxide separation and capture: a review.

This article reviews the progress made in CO2 separation and capture research and engineering. Various technologies, such as absorption, adsorption, and membrane separation, are thoroughly discussed. New concepts such as chemical-looping combustion and hydrate-based separation are also introduced briefly. Future directions are suggested. Sequestration methods, such as forestation, ocean fertili...

Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage: A General Review on Adsorbents

CO2 is the primary anthropogenic greenhouse gas, accounting for 77% of the human contribution to the greenhouse effect in 2004. In the recent years, global concentration of CO2 in the atmosphere is increasing rapidly. CO2 emissions have an impact on global climate change. Anthropogenic CO2 is emitted primarily from fossil fuel combustion. Carbon capture and storage (CCS) is one option for reduc...

Capture of carbon dioxide from ambient air

Carbon dioxide capture from ambient air could compensate for all carbon dioxide emissions to the atmosphere. Such capture would, for example, make it possible to use liquid, carbon-based fuels in cars or airplanes without negatively impacting the climate. We present a specific approach based on a solid sorbent in the form of an anionic exchange resin, that absorbs carbon dioxide when dry and re...
